I am a father, husband, junior doctor, and geologist who has travelled a varied path. I have a thirst for exploring, learning, and building off my experiences. My interests include social justice, extreme medicine, medical education, team dynamics and Lego to name but a few.

Experience

My experience comes from the variety of vocational, educational, volunteer and recreational roles I have undertaken. I have worked across Australia, on mine sites to University board rooms, from 1.5km underground to busy hospital emergency departments and operating rooms. This experience sets me apart and has developed my unique skill set and perspective which allows me to adapt, integrate and perform in a variety of situations.

Family

I am the father of two amazing young girls who, together with my wife give me the most joy in the world. Watching them grow and experience the world changes the way I approach my life and interact with people and the environment we live in.

Medicine

I am a junior doctor with experience working across different health services in Victoria. I describe myself as patient-centred and am a strong believer in operating with reflective practice. I have interests in anaesthetics/critical care, extreme medicine and medical education.

Highlights

  • Victorian Junior Doctor of the Year 2023 (Postgraduate Medical Council of Victoria)

  • Intern of the Year (Barwon Health)

  • Multiple awards for academic achievement, including in Dean Honours list and Surgery and Paediatrics prizes (Deakin)

  • Recently completed a Graduate Certificate in Healthcare in Remote and Extreme Environments (UTAS)

Geology

Over 12 years of experience working as a geologist across Australia, including extensive experience in senior roles. I have worked across mine, resource and exploration geology roles and gained an in-depth understanding of teamwork, communication skills, leadership and safety systems.

Highlights

  • Across several sites developed relatively inexperienced teams into high functioning units which ensured safety and operational KPI’s were achieved.

Mine Rescue

I have five years of experience in volunteer mine rescue with training in vertical rescues, confined space rescue, road crash rescue, search & rescue and advanced first aid. This experience honed my interest in teamwork dynamics and medicine in extreme environments.

Highlights

  • The team won several mine rescue competition awards and events, with myself having various roles, including vice-captain & team medic.

Recreation

Keen interest in pushing myself to grow through recreational pursuits. I find the personal growth I get from recreation translates into my every day and vocational life.

Highlights

  • Completing the 2012 Busselton Ironman Triathlon

  • Rock climbing in Australia, Asia and Europe

  • Playing Lego with my children to continue to grow my imagination
